A Better World through Chemistry

EarthChemical Companies Misunderstood

In today’s modern world, chemical companies are often viewed in a harsh, negative light. Many of these negative perceptions were created in the late 1980s and early 1990s, when public distrust of chemical companies was at an all-time high. In 1965, 55% of the public held a favorable opinion of chemical companies. By 1990, this changed to only 14% (Chemical Manufacturers Association report).

In the twenty-plus years following this statistic, things have changed in the chemical manufacturing
industry. The implementation of the Responsible Care® program by American Chemistry Council (ACC) members has greatly improved environmental, health, safety, and security performance of the chemical manufacturing industry. Responsible Care® is a global initiative, currently used by 53 national associations, with the goal of promoting the safe and secure management of chemicals, products, and processes.

Many chemical companies, such as Anderson Development Company, are compliant with all necessary rules and regulations. We strive to continually improve our processes, limit waste, and be as economical as possible. We produce high quality material with our end-user always in mind.

How Do Our Products Impact Society?photodune-2397030-environmentally-friendly-seal-xs

We have diverse product lines that serve many different industries and applications. ADC is committed to making the world a better place through our processes, the treatment of our employees, and the products we create.

For example, our Acrylic Resins are used in products that many consumers use on a daily basis. Our acrylic resins are used extensively in powder coating applications in the automotive industry. Other markets include aluminum wheels, outdoor furniture, lawn and garden equipment, household hardware and appliances, and various architectural uses. These products provide protection of metals against corrosion as are also a low emission coating system, which makes our acrylic resins environmentally friendly.

Our Polyurethanes also have many positive contributions to society that one may not know about. Urethanes provide an alternative for products/parts previously made with rubber, plastic, and even metal. Urethane can extend the life of a mechanical part which in turn impacts the consumer by making products cheaper and higher quality. Urethanes are also used for in-line skate wheels, machinery used in the oil industry and farming equipment, and so much more.

Organoboron compounds also serve a diverse market. These compounds are used in lubricants, electronic, fuel additives, wood preservatives, and pharmaceutical intermediates just to name a few! Almabor TIPB, specifically, is used in leading pharmaceuticals to treat breast cancer.

Breaking the Stereotype

Chemical companies serve the community in many positive ways. Because of our chemicals, we have achieved major advancements in medicine, technology, and every-day products. These advancements not only make our lives easier, but also improve our quality of life.
