Almatex PD-4409 is an epoxy and hydroxy dual functional solid GMA acrylic resin used for either cationic UV curing or conventional thermal curing powder coating applications. For cationic UV curing, PD-4409 can be formulated with cationic photoinitiators based on iodonium antimony salts. To obtain the desired coating properties, a post-cure is needed. The UV coating based on PD-4409 offers very high hardness, mar resistance, solvent resistance, and clarity. For thermal curing application, PD-4409 can be formulated with both polycarboxylic acids and with or without blocked isocyanates to obtain desired coating properties.
