Anderson Development Company, in proud partnership with WACKER, once again had the honor of hosting the Annual Lenawee County Household Hazardous Waste Day—and this year’s event was nothing short of a success!
On Saturday, May 11, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, our team welcomed a steady flow of 482 vehicles—all driven by Lenawee County residents dedicated to properly disposing of household hazardous waste. The first vehicle rolled in as early as 5:30 AM, and the last left just before noon, reflecting the community’s outstanding commitment to environmental responsibility.
From used paint and automotive fluids to pesticides and everyday household chemicals, residents showed up ready to make a difference. Thanks to their efforts, hundreds of gallons of hazardous materials were responsibly collected and diverted from landfills and waterways, contributing to a cleaner, safer Lenawee County.
But the day wasn’t just about waste—it was about education, family fun, and community connection.
Just a few miles away, the Stubnitz Environmental Education Center hosted an exciting lineup of family-friendly events. Attendees enjoyed guided nature hikes, engaging composting and recycling demonstrations, and a crowd-favorite Animal Magic live animal show. One of the day’s highlights? A photo-worthy moment featuring a young attendee proudly wearing a giant plush snake around his shoulders—his smile capturing the spirit of the event perfectly.
Behind the scenes, none of this would have been possible without the help of our incredible team of volunteers. From coordinating traffic flow to answering questions and conducting community surveys, our staff and partners brought energy, knowledge, and heart to every interaction. Their enthusiasm made the long morning feel like a celebration.
We want to extend our deepest thanks to everyone who participated—especially our volunteers, partners, and all Lenawee County residents who showed up for their environment and their community. It’s events like these that remind us of what’s possible when we work together for a common good.
Together, we’re building a greener tomorrow—one drop-off at a time. 💚
